A Brief High Level View Of Newcastle Gigs

The town of Newcastle is mostly busy with plenty of activity. Music isn’t just a favourite pass time here ; the locals take their music seriously. There are several local bands competing for Newcastle gigs held at the many entertainment spots and arenas all over the town. Newcastle also plays host to several countrywide and international artists who are always assured of a warm reception when they come to perform for these mad music lovers. Any local artist or group that shows a glance of real talent right away draws a huge interest and following. The fans can be quite demanding so it is the privilege of the performing artist to ensure that the gang is happy with their performance.

One of the most important Newcastle gigs of recent times was the concert by Motorhead at the Newcastle City Hall in November 2005. The band was in top form and started gradually much to the delight of the adoring crowd. One of the highlight performances was the song ‘Killed by Death’ which caught the spectators and drove them into madness as they jumped and sang along to the words. In between their songs, they took breaks to change their costumes which livened up their performances and added to the subjects of the songs.

The Roxy Music Newcastle gig held early on in the year in January proved to be a disappointment due to really poor sound quality. The band is talented and the difficulty was likely not of their making. The organizers were just sloppy and the bunch was kept waiting for long as they fiddled with the sound system. When Roxy Music took to the stage, the bunch showed a lot of passion, but this was dampened by the distorted sound coming through. In addition, there were several security staff who seemed to pester fans. The organizers disappointed the large crowd that had turned up to cheer an otherwise gifted band.

The Metro Arena in Newcastle played host to Paul Weller and his entourage in May this year. This came after an analogous event slated for December last year was delayed. It’s a breezy evening, and the wind energetically blew at the many imitation hair-cuts adorned by Weller fans. Weller took to the stage and gave an eclectic mixture of new and old songs at an exceedingly high tempo. The energy shown by the 52 year old performer was marched by the positive crowd. It’ll go down as one of the most notable Newcastle gigs this year.
